. . . Ideal Vitamin A . . .

Carrot juice plays the most important part in an infant's supply of vitamin A. When carrot juice is consumed jointly with milk, the utilisation of carotene as vitamin A is considerably increased. A carrot and milk juice is the ideal vitamin A source for infants and can in no case lead to risk of the child having too much vitamin A.

Seven Deadly Act After Meal

DON'T DO THE 7 ACTIONS BELOW AFTER YOU HAVE A MEAL ...

* Don't smoke immediately - Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher).

* Don't eat fruits immediately - Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruit 1-2 hr after meal or 1hr before meal.

* Don't drink tea immediately - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest.

* Don't loosen your belt immediately - Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted & blocked.

* Don't bathe immediately - Bathing after meal will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

* Don't walk about immediately - People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

* Don't sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.

"Losing Your Temper Can Delay Healing"

Do you lose your temper or get irritated often?

It's high time that you try to become a cool person. A new study has found that anger, which is known to blow out the light of reason, can delay healing too.
A team of researchers has found that being unable to control and vent anger can harm the process of healing a wound.
The researchers analysed around 100 participants who had agreed to receive standardised blister wounds, inflicted by a vacuum pump on their non-dominant forearm. After blistering, the wounds were monitored daily for eight days to access the speed of repair. The secretion of the stress hormone cortisol was also measured during blistering to evaluate the role of this hormone in the healing process.
Anger control was assessed using a standard scale and the participants were categorised as slow healers if they took more than four days to heal the standardised wound. Taking into account potential confounding factors, people with low control over the expression of their anger were 4.2 times more likely to take more than four days to heal.

AIDS Spreads Like This Also ...

Good To Know .. A True Incident ...

A 10 year old boy, had eaten pineapple and fell sick from the day he had eaten. Later when he had his Health check done, doctors diagnosed that he had AIDS.

His parents couldn't believe it...
Then the entire family under went a Checkup... None of them suffered from Aids. So the doctors checked again with the boy if he had eaten out... The boy said "yes". He had pineapple
that evening. Immediately a group from Mallya hospital went to the pineapple vendor to check. They found the pineapple seller had a cut on his finger. While cutting the pineapple, his blood had spread into the fruit. When they had his blood checked, the guy was suffering from AIDS .....
But, he himself was NOT aware... Unfortunately the boy is suffering from it now...

Please take care while u eat on the road side ......

DO NOT REUSE MINERAL WATER BOTTLES !!!

Many are unaware of poisoning caused by re-using plastic bottles.
Some of you may be in the habit of using and re-using your disposable mineral water bottles (e.g. Nestle, Bisleri, Aquafina, Kinley, Evian, etc...), keeping them in your car or at work.
Not a good idea.

It happened in Dubai, when a 12 year old girl died after a long usage (16 months) of SAFA mineral water bottle, as she used to carry the same fancy (painted by herself) bottle to her school daily. In a nutshell, the plastic (called polyethylene terephthalate or PET) used
in these bottles contains a potentially carcinogenic element
(something called Diethyl-hydroxylamine or DEHA). The bottles are safe for one time use only; if you must keep them longer, it should be or no more than a few days, week max, and keep them away from heat as well.
Repeated washing and rinsing can cause the plastic to break down and the carcinogens (cancer-causing chemical agents) can leak into the water that YOU are drinking. Better to invest in water bottles that are really meant for multiple uses. This is not something we should
be scrimping on.
Those of you with family - do please advise them, especially children.
This is a special ! warning for families in India who hang on to these disposable bottles and use them for cold water in their fridges for ages.
When a bottle looks a bit yellow - please get rid of it as a precaution.

Viagra Can Harm MALE Fertility ...

Researchers have revealed that Viagra, an anti-impotence drug, may have negative effects on male fertility. Experiments have suggested that the use of the drug can harm sperm and may prevent some men from fathering families.
According to researchers from Queen's University in Belfast, northern Ireland, young men who use the drug recreationally could impair their ability to have families and fertility clinics that prescribe Viagra to help men produce sperm for IVF treatments could be preventing some couples from conceiving.
The study, which is to be published in the journal Fertility and Sterility, is based on two sets of experiments. The first involved taking sperm samples from volunteers and then bathing them in weak solutions of Viagra. The aim was to produce a Viagra level equivalent to that found in the blood of a man who had taken a single 100-milligram tablet.
The researchers then compared the behaviour of the treated sperm with standard samples and found the drug had two principal effects. It made sperm more active but also it damaged its acrosome, a cap-like structure that contains enzymes that break down the membrane surrounding a women's egg and allows sperm to fertilise it.
"I think it is worrying that some IVF clinics are using Viagra in order to boost fertility results," Dr David Glenn, a consultant gynaecologist at Queen's University said.

Why Fish Oil Is Good for You

It's good news that we are living longer, but bad news that the longer we live, the better our odds of developing late-onset Alzheimer's disease.

Many Alzheimer's researchers have long touted fish oil, by pill or diet, as an accessible and inexpensive "weapon" that may delay or prevent this debilitating disease. Now, UCLA scientists have confirmed that fish oil is indeed a deterrent against Alzheimer's, and they have identified the reasons why.

Reporting in the current issue of the Journal of Neuroscience, now online, Greg Cole, professor of medicine and neurology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and associate director of UCLA's Alzheimer Disease Research Center, and his colleagues report that the omega-3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) found in fish oil increases the production of LR11, a protein that is found at reduced levels in Alzheimer's patients and which is known to destroy the protein that forms the "plaques" associated with the disease.

The plaques are deposits of a protein called beta amyloid that is thought to be toxic to neurons in the brain, leading to Alzheimer's. Since having high levels of LR11 prevents the toxic plaques from being made, low levels in patients are believed to be a factor in causing the disease.

Alzheimer's is a debilitating neurodegenerative disease that causes memory loss, dementia, personality change and ultimately death. The national Alzheimer's Association estimates that 5.1 million Americans are currently afflicted with the disease and predicts that the number may increase to between 11 million and 16 million people by the year 2050.

The researchers examined the effects of fish oil, or its component DHA, in multiple biological systems and administered the oil or fatty acid by diet and by adding it directly to neurons grown in the laboratory.

"We found that even low doses of DHA increased the levels of LR11 in rat neurons, while dietary DHA increased LR11 in brains of rats or older mice that had been genetically altered to develop Alzheimer's disease," said Cole, who is also associate director of the Geriatric Research Center at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

To show that the benefits of DHA were not limited to nonhuman animal cells, the researchers also confirmed a direct impact of DHA on human neuronal cells in culture as well. Thus, high levels of DHA leading to abundant LR11 seem to protect against Alzheimer's, Cole said, while low LR11 levels lead to formation of the amyloid plaques.

Fish oil and its key ingredient, omega-3 fatty acids (found in fatty fish like salmon), have been a mainstay of alternative health practitioners for years and have been endorsed by the American Heart Association to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Fatty acids like DHA are considered "essential" fatty acids because the body cannot make them from other sources and must obtain them through diet. Years of research have shown that DHA is the most abundant essential fatty acid in the brain, Cole said, and that it is critical to fetal and infant brain development. Studies have also linked low levels of DHA in the brain to cognitive impairment and have shown that lower levels may increase oxidative stress in the brains of Alzheimer's patients.

Based on the positive results, the National Institutes of Health is currently conducting a large-scale clinical trial with DHA in patients with established Alzheimer's disease. For those patients, Cole said, it may be too late in the disease's progression for DHA to have much effect. But he is hopeful that the NIH will conduct a large-scale prevention clinical trial using fish oil at the earliest stages of the disease — particularly because it is unlikely that a pharmaceutical company will do so, since fish oil in pill form is readily available and inexpensive.

Still to be determined, he said, "is what the optimal dose should be. It could be that a smaller amount might be helpful, especially in a place like the south of France, where people are already on a Mediterranean diet."

"There's a deficiency of DHA to begin with," Cole said, "and this may contribute to the low LR11 seen in many Alzheimer's patients."

In addition to Cole, authors included Qui-Lan Ma, Bruce Teter, Oliver J. Ubede, Takashi Morihara, Dilsher Dhoot, Michael D. Nyby, Michael L. Tuck and Sally A. Frautschy, all of UCLA.

Funding for the research was provided by a grant from the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. The research was initiated with support from the National Institute on Aging.

The UCLA Department of Neurology encompasses more than a dozen research, clinical and teaching programs. These programs cover brain mapping and neuro-imaging, movement disorders, Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, neurogenetics, nerve and muscle disorders, epilepsy, neuro-oncology, neurotology, neuropsychology, headaches and migraines, neurorehabilitation, and neurovascular disorders. The department ranked No. 1 in 2005 and 2006 among its peers nationwide in National Institutes of Health funding.

A Horrible Fact About KFC

KFC has been a part of American traditions for many years. Many people, day in and day out, eat at KFC religiously. Do they really know what they are eating? During a recent studyof KFC done at the University of NEW HAMPSHIRE, they found some very upsetting facts. first of all, has anybody noticed that just recently, the company has changed their name? Kentucky Fried Chicken has become KFC. does anybody know why? We thought the real reason was because of "FRIED" food issue. IT'S NOT!!! The reason why they call it KFC is because they can not use the word chicken anymore. Why? KFC does not use real chickens. they actually use genetically manipulated organisms. these so called "chickens" are kept alive by tubes inserted into their bodies to pump blood and nutrients throughout their structure. They have no beaks, no feathers, and no feet. Their bone structure is dramatically shrunk to get more meat out of them. This is great for KFC. Because they do not have to pay so much for their production costs. There is no more plucking of the feathers or the removal of the beaks and feet. The government has told them to change all of their menus so they do not say chicken anywhere. If you look closely, you will notice this. Listen to their commercials, I guarantee you will not see or hear the word chicken. I find this matter to be very disturbing. I hope people will start realize this and let other people know.
